Rumors of "Amero coins"

In August 2007, rumors and conspiracy theories began circulating across the Internet regarding alleged United States Treasury issued "Amero" coins.

The inspiration behind these rumors may have the posting of images of medallions created by coin designer Daniel Carr.[3] Carr, who designed the Maine, New York and Rhode Island statehood quarters of 2001,
sells medals and tokens of his own design on his commercial website,
"Designs Computed" (also known as "DC Coin"). Among his designs were
three fantasy issues of an "Amero" coin, with the legend "Union of
North America" on the back, with his company's logo, a stylized "DC",
in small type.[4] Concerning his "Amero" designs, he mentions on his website:

"My goal with these coins is not to endorse a Union of North America or a common "Amero" currency. I fully support the United States Constitution,
and I would not welcome (in any form) a diminishment of its provisions.
I expect that these coins will help make more people aware of the issue
and the possible ramifications. I leave it up to others to decide if
they are in favor of, or against a North American Union. And I
encourage citizens to voice their approval or disapproval of government
plans that impact them."[10]

Unauthorized postings of images taken from his website have been
reposted widely across the internet, often being used as supposed
"proof" of the Amero coinage. Notably, internet radio talk show host Hal Turner ran a full article on the "Amero coin", claiming to have arranged for a United States Government minted "Amero" to be smuggled out of the Treasury Department by an employee of that organization.[11]

Following Turner's assertions of federal minting of Ameros, a web
site marketing the curio coins released a statement debunking Turner's
claims of a government cover up regarding Daniel Carr's Amero products.[12] The debunking website Snopes
also ran a further debunking of Turner's claims, stating "Neither the
U.S. Mint nor the U.S. Treasury has a hand in creating these 'Ameros'.
These coins are merely collectibles offered to the buying public by a
private company in the business of manufacturing such curiosities."[13]

“I call on the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency to detain any illegal aliens at this press conference.  Just because these illegal aliens are being used for political gain doesn’t mean they get immunity from the law.”

Wouldn't it be funny if instead of those horrific soul destroying Mexicans that Tancredo hates so much, the illegal aliens were an Irish nun and a German doctor whose visa's expired.

10/23/2007 - 5:46 pm

oh and apprently they have shut down the Denver mint and are moving in secret machines at night to produce more of them

10/23/2007 - 5:34 pm

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – U.S.Representative Tom Tancredo (R-Littleton) today released a statement regarding an event Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) reportedly plans to hold in conjunction with discussion of the DREAM ACT – an event that will be attended by several illegal aliens.

“I call on the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency to detain any illegal aliens at this press conference.  Just because these illegal aliens are being used for political gain doesn’t mean they get immunity from the law.”

Turns out those staff-led tours of the Capitol have some powerful allies, including 41 senators who are lobbying to save them.

In the wake of articles in both Politico and Roll Call,
the senators—among them Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.), John Kerry (D-Mass.), Edward
M. Kennedy (D-Mass.), Jim DeMint (R-S.C.), Saxby Chambliss
(R-Ga.)—wrote Stephen F. Ayers, acting architect of the Capitol, urging
him not to eliminate the tours. The senators’ letter was sent 10 days
after 148 House lawmakers sent their own version.

Resolution: To welcome Puerto Rico into the union, as long they don't make music. I think we can agree to that.

10/23/2007 - 2:25 pm

That's true.  Just as long as they don't make pop music.

10/23/2007 - 2:24 pm

They're a good-looking people. I think we should welcome them into the union.

10/23/2007 - 2:18 pm

Statehood for Puerto Rico?  Woah, woah, woah.  Let's think about this.

President. Ricky. Martin.

10/23/2007 - 2:03 pm

Fuck the Ricans

10/23/2007 - 2:00 pm

Lavate las manos!

10/23/2007 - 1:58 pm

Apparently, (as I just learned from a caller) a U.S. Senator represents everyone in the country...not just those who elected him/her. This was from someone out of state so my response was simple, "Umm.........ok"

10/23/2007 - 1:57 pm

Who thinks Puerto Rico should become a state or become independent

10/23/2007 - 1:55 pm

Barber, I believe, closes at 4 p.m., though I could be wrong on that. I hear good things about it, as long as you're getting something fairly simple.

10/23/2007 - 1:55 pm

Don't these old people realize that they NEED mexico?  Where else are they going to get thier cheap meds?

10/23/2007 - 1:52 pm

anybody know the barber hours or have phone #?

10/23/2007 - 1:51 pm

Some woman from Mass. said that there are 38 million illegal immigrants in this country.

10/23/2007 - 1:46 pm

The House Natural Resources Committee voted to allow voters in Puerto Rico to choose whether the island should keep its status as a U.S. commonwealth, gain statehood or become a new independent nation.

can anybody tell me where the senate barber is?  and is he any good?  i need a haircut.

10/23/2007 - 1:34 pm

I hate living in Virginia right now, the only fucking issue on every campaign commercial is about the illegals.  What about the shit roads, or anything other than a drum beat that the moron that vote can dance to.  What a mess, no wonder this country is in the shitter!

10/23/2007 - 1:32 pm

Numbers USA

Fuck you and all of your members too!

10/23/2007 - 1:29 pm

shhhhh... nobody let the public know their mass phone calls, letter writing campaigns, and canned emails are meaningless.  if the public suddenly had to construct thoughful arguments, or read newspapers, or discuss policy, this country would descend into chaos.  Plus, I need a K st job after this that maintains the grand illusion.

10/23/2007 - 1:28 pm

Screw the French.

10/23/2007 - 1:27 pm

I really want to fuck up whoever started Numbers USA.

10/23/2007 - 1:09 pm

Last
week, the Senate voted to protect Sanctuary Cities and their policies
to shield illegal aliens. Today, some Senators apparently are declaring
the Capitol an illegal-alien sanctuary!

Again, Numbers USA.

10/23/2007 - 1:05 pm

If Americans don't phone Tuesday
until the switchboard shuts down, it looks like we're going to have a
brand new amnesty for illegal aliens coming out of the Senate later
this week.

VIA numbers usa..

great.

I'm pretty sure Thomas Jefferson would shit his pants if he knew about this "unitary executive" crap.

10/23/2007 - 12:04 pm

Because Thomas Jefferson kicked their asses.

That's right, without telling his cabinet or getting authorization from Congress.  An excelent example of using the military power of the executive

10/23/2007 - 11:54 am

Try years, anyone who was a staff ass in the last few years knows that its the same 100+ people calling/writing about mexicans ad nauseum

Memo to America: We don't care what you have to say, especially when you write in about crazy stuff, write nasty things, and write all the time.

House Democrats prevented Minority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) from
forcing a vote Tuesday on his resolution to officially reprimand
Democratic Rep. Pete Stark of California for suggesting last week that
U.S. troops in Iraq "get their heads blown off for the president's
amusement."

Democrats voted, 196-173, to table the measure shortly after Boehner
offered it, preventing their members from having to cast a vote to
protect the outspoken California liberal. Boehner and his Republican
colleagues were hoping to re-ignite coverage of Stark's controversial
remarks.

NO ONE IS FUCKING SNEAKING IN AMNESTY.   YOU HAVE BEEN CALLING AND BITCHING ABOUT IT FOR MONTHS.   I HAVE TALKED TO THOUSANDS OF YOU.   YOU CAN HATE IT BUT FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING GOOD AND HOLY DONT SAY ANYONE IS SNEAKING IT ANYWHERE.  FUCK.

10/23/2007 - 11:39 am

The UN doesn't care about the sea. They are too busy building their super secret 12 lane NAFTA superhighway to allow evil moustache twirling Mexicans to invade our country and become abortion doctors.

10/23/2007 - 11:35 am

I would like to see you vote no on the Tready of the Sea (L.O.S.T). I don't feel we have to give the UN anymore power than they already have. I feel we are already paying enough taxes to State and Federal agenices. All we need is another tax coming from the UN. I feel this tready will just take more security away from the US.

Thank you for listening.

Why do stupid people hate America

I have a hard time not laughing at them when they say this. The UN doesn't have the authority to tax them. Stupid people make me laugh...

10/23/2007 - 11:29 am

I take the time and effort to write to my representatives as I feel it a duty. Next I believe that should my representatives not respond or acknowledge constituents views then it is immparative they be voted out. I also believe we need time limits on terms to get "new blood, ideas and break the chain of one oweing the other in the halls of the legislative branches.

Hard to take these people seriously when they write crap like the example below

10/23/2007 - 11:18 am

Yup. I'm guessing he didn't want to give up his House seat in order to lose to Mark Warner.

Nope. Convention instead of primary. The convention ensures an unelectable nominee.

10/23/2007 - 11:10 am

Rep. Tom Davis (R-Va.) also is reconsidering a planned run for Senate
next year, according to published reports. Davis had been planning to
run for the seat being vacated by Sen. John Warner (R-Va.).

Meanwhile, in Virginia, if Davis decides not to run for Senate —
washingtonpost.com reported late last night that an announcement could
came as soon as this week — it would leave former Gov. Jim Gilmore as
the frontrunner for the Republican Senate nomination. Another former
governor, Mark Warner, is almost certain to be the Democratic nominee —
and he remains the frontrunner in the race to replace Sen. Warner.

10/23/2007 - 10:56 am

No, tell them your boss strongly opposes it. "He introduced it just so he could have the opportunity to vote against it."

A few months ago I met with a constituent while back at our state office. He was very upset that our MoC had voted against a particular bill. I asked him if he was aware that our MoC had proposed legislation to basically accomplish the same though...just with a different way of doing it? He said that, yes...he had heard that. I asked him if he could remember when that was. He said that it was announced the day before the vote that pissed him off.

I laid out a scenario for him. If we have two pieces of legislation with identical goals...yet different means of reaching that goal...if one of those two pieces of legislation was offered and sponsored by our MoC....which one might you guess he will support?

10/23/2007 - 10:54 am

My office is full of retards today...I think everyone has had a little too much time off in the last few weeks.

10/23/2007 - 10:50 am

i like the rednecks from the midwest, who havent seen the ocean in 20 years and dont know a thing about maritime travel, who feel the law of the sea steals our sovereignty.

I enjoy telling them the truth on this. It really pisses them off. I explain that we would still have complete control over things from our shores...to 200 miles out. That this treaty basically ensures that those international waters beyond our own remain neutral. That we would be the 146th country to sign the treaty. That we are basically in complete compliance with the treaty already. That we negotiated many portions of the treaty. That this treaty has been around for more than 20 years already. Of course they are unaware of this entirely. They only believe was some conspiracy loon emailed them...the same type of people who believe in the North American Union and the one world government (Illuminati) garbage.

10/23/2007 - 10:42 am

Why does the ocean hate America?

10/23/2007 - 10:40 am

I enjoy getting form letters urging my boss to be a cosponsor of his own bill. I should tell them we'll consider it.

No, tell them your boss strongly opposes it. "He introduced it just so he could have the opportunity to vote against it."

any guesses when the Senate is going to vote on labor hhs?

I'm not sure. Anyone else? I did see however that cloture has been filed on the Dream Act. :) I love pissing off the rednecks.

3. Please vote NO to the UN League of the Sea Treaty. This bill
undermines our nation's sovereignty. The Presidlent is making a GRAVE
mistake in trying to PUSH through this bill.

It's interesting how they claim to know all the details on this treaty and they say they have been following it very closely...yet most of their information is incorrect (flat out wrong in most cases) and rarely do they even get the name of the treaty correct.

10/23/2007 - 10:03 am

Please vote against, please do not support, please do all you can
to prevent the following pending bills from passing. All of them are NOT
good for our country!

1. All Amnesty bills in any shape or form which are attempted to be
attached to other bills. PLEASE, no Amnesty. Secure our borders first.

2. Vote No to the Hate Crinme Bill (EDNA). Protect our First Amendment:
Freedom of Speech.

3. Please vote NO to the UN League of the Sea Treaty. This bill
undermines our nation's sovereignty. The Presidlent is making a GRAVE
mistake in trying to PUSH through this bill.

Sincerely,

Anyone else want to go into exile after reading crap like this all day?
