A report from the Hollywood Police Department states a 10th resident of the nursing home, The Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills, has died.

The 94 year old woman died on Wednesday.

The Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills nursing home power and therefore air conditioning as Hurricane Irma hit Florida.

As the facility waited to have power restored, eight other residents died in the sweltering heat. Earlier this week, a ninth resident had passed away.

An attorney for Hollywood Hills says this latest death is not related to Hurricane Irma.

“Hollywood Hills cares for residents, including residents in hospice care in terminal condition. There has been a report of a resident who was discharged from Hollywood Hills one week ago who has passed away. Hollywood Hills has not been provided any information regarding this former resident’s passing. Hollywood Hills sends deepest condolences to the family at this time of loss,” said Kirsten Ullman.

Hollywood police along with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the resident’s deaths.

Ullman says caregivers “continuously monitored” all residents as caregivers “implemented efforts to keep the facility temperatures as comfortable as possible.”
