The Associated Builders and Contractors of Florida (ABC FL) is endorsing Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody in her 2022 re-election bid.

ABC of Florida, the state’s largest construction trade group, stamped its seal of approval on Moody today, thanking her for promoting and advancing the state’s vital construction industry.

“As the leading trade association in both the United States and Florida for Commercial Builders and Contractors, representing nearly 2,000 member companies and their tens of thousands of employees statewide, it is our honor to endorse Ashley Moody for Attorney General,” said Carol Bowen, ABC of Florida. “Attorney General Moody understands that a strong construction industry allows this trade to thrive for generations to come here in Florida.”

Moody, a fifth-generation Floridian, attended the University of Florida where she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting in addition to her law degree. She later attended Stetson University College of Law earning a Masters of Law in International Law.

She began her legal career with the law firm of Holland & Knight where she practiced commercial litigation. She would later join the United States Attorney’s Office prosecuting drug, firearm, and fraud offenses, before becoming the youngest judge in Florida when she was elected Circuit Court Judge of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit in Hillsborough County in 2006.

Moody defeated former state Rep. Sean Shaw in 2018 to become Florida’s 38th Attorney General.

Following the announcement, Moody touted ABC Florida’s support in a Tuesday news release.

“Florida leads the nation in net migration. Everyday people across the country decide to leave high tax, over-regulated, high crime states for the thriving free state of Florida. Construction is one of the top drivers of our economy and jobs. As Florida’s Attorney General, I look forward to working with ABC of Florida to ensure our free and fair market principles continue to make Florida the state where the American dream becomes reality,” said Moody.

With Moody running unopposed in the Republican primary, she has her sights set on November where she will be squaring off against a Democratic challenger. Those vying to face Moody include ‘Grim Reaper’ Daniel Uhlfelder, Aramis Ayala, a former Orange-Osceola State Attorney, and Fort Lauderdale attorney Jim Lewis.
