The political arm of Americans for Prosperity released its first wave of Florida Legislature endorsements ahead of the 2022 elections.

Americans for Prosperity Action Florida (AFP Action FL) announced that it is backing 13 Republican incumbents in its first round of endorsements. The eight House candidates and five Senate candidates to earn AFP Action’s support include Representatives Paul Renner (HD-19), Stan McClain (HD-27), Mike Giallombardo (HD-79), Bob Rommel (HD-81), Lauren Melo (HD-82), Tom Fabricio (HD-110), Alex Rizzo (HD-112), Juan Fernandez-Barquin (HD-118), as well as Senators Keith Perry (SD-09), Debbie Mayfield (SD-19), Ray Rodrigues (SD-33), Manny Diaz Jr. (SD-39), and Ana Maria Rodriguez (SD-40).

AFP Action Florida and our grassroots activists are ready and engaged to support candidates who champion policies that promote growth and opportunity in Florida and improve people’s lives,” said AFP Action Senior Advisor Skylar Zander. “We will be active across the state, knocking on doors and making calls during the coming months, right up to Election Day.”

In a press release, AFP’s political committee praised each candidate individually, highlighting their work during their time in the legislature. Many were spotlighted for pushing pro-AFP policies — like eliminating regulations and driving down health care costs — including House Speaker-designate Renner, who helped champion such issues.

“During his time in the Florida House of Representatives, Rep. Paul Renner has been a leader in ending corporate welfare, improving education, and protecting Florida taxpayers. He was the lead sponsor of legislation to end Enterprise Florida and to add more oversight of community redevelopment agencies. Rep. Renner has been an advocate for students through his support for the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program. On health care, Renner has advocated for greater access and lower prices as a lead advocate for ‘Right to Shop’ legislation and certificate of need reform,” AFP Action said in a statement.

The endorsements come one week after AFP Action backed three U.S. House incumbents. The Republican trio earning the seal of approval included U.S. Representatives Kat Cammack (FL-03), Scott Franklin (FL-15), and Maria Elvira Salazar (FL-27).
