Annette Taddeo touts trio of endorsements

Following State Senator Annette Taddeo‘s October entry into the gubernatorial race, the Miami Democrat is touting a trio of new endorsements in her bid for the Governor’s mansion.

Taddeo’s campaign announced the endorsements on Tuesday from local elected leaders around Florida. Those throwing their support behind Taddeo included Miami Dade County Commissioners Jean Monestime, Miami Beach Vice Mayor David Richardson and Orange County Property Appraiser Amy Mercado.

“No one knows their communities better than local leaders and Electeds. I am honored to receive the support from County Commissioners Monestime, Vice Mayor Richardson, and Property Appraise Mercado,” said Taddeo. “They are all tireless fighters for the people. As Governor, I look forward to working with local elected leaders to put the needs of everyday Floridians first as I have done my entire career.”

Taddeo launched her gubernatorial campaign on October 18, following months of encouragement from Democrats across the state. Since entering the race, Taddeo has amassed over $650,000 in her bid to defeat Republican Governor Ron DeSantis.

“A proven leader and champion for Florida’s working families, Annette Taddeo is running to be the next Governor of Florida. She has dedicated her life to fighting for better opportunities for all Floridians and will continue fighting every day to make sure that every family in our state has access to affordable healthcare, a living wage, and economic opportunity,” said Mercado.

Monestime agreed, adding, “Annette Taddeo embodies the dreams and aspirations of many Americans that are driven by faith, courage, and passion. Florida will benefit greatly from her bold and steadfast leadership.”

But Taddeo faces an uphill battle to capture the Democratic nomination. She will have the Sisyphean Task of wrestling it away from two major front runners — Democratic Congressman Charlie Crist and Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried.

Despite trailing both Crist and Fried in polls and prediction markets, supporters maintain that she will make a great governor.

“Annette Taddeo was one of the first people to stand with me in 2012 to support of my historic election for State Representative,” said Richardson. She has the experience, the temperament, and the grace to be a terrific Governor. She has been a fighter her whole life and today I stand with her!”
