Belinda Keiser, vice chancellor of Keiser University and a longtime Republican civic figure, launched her campaign for Florida’s 22nd Congressional District, her campaign announced on Thursday.

Keiser is running as a Republican in the newly redrawn district, which her campaign said includes all of Hendry County and parts of Collier, Palm Beach and Broward counties. The campaign said Keiser has lived in the district for 36 years.

In a statement, Keiser described herself as an “America First” conservative and said she would focus on lowering costs, supporting law enforcement officers and first responders, backing the military, protecting constitutional freedoms, expanding economic opportunity and creating jobs.

“For more than 36 years, District 22 has been my home, and I understand the challenges families and businesses are facing every day,” she said. “I have spent four decades helping create opportunities, strengthen our economy, and prepare thousands of Floridians for successful careers. I know what it takes to grow jobs, support the business community, and help working families thrive. In Congress, I will fight alongside President Trump to lower costs for families, support our law enforcement officers and first responders, stand with our military, protect our constitutional freedoms, expand economic opportunity, create more jobs, and preserve the American Dream.”

Keiser currently serves as vice chancellor of Keiser University, a Florida-based nonprofit university she helped grow over nearly 50 years. Her campaign said the university educates more than 20,000 students across 18 Florida campuses, employs more than 4,000 people, partners with employers in key economic sectors and has an annual economic impact of $5.9 billion in Florida.

The campaign also highlighted Keiser’s Republican political background, including her service as a Florida presidential elector in 2024, when she cast a vote for President Donald Trump. She also served as a Florida at-large delegate to the 2024 Republican National Convention, a Women for Trump Advisory Board member in 2020, a senior advisor for Asian American and Pacific Islanders for Trump in 2024 and an Asian Americans for Trump Advisory Board member in 2020.

Keiser has also received appointments to state boards and commissions from Republican officials, according to the release. Those include appointments to Space Florida, the Florida Constitution Revision Commission, the Florida Commission on the Status of Women, the Florida Children and Youth Cabinet, Enterprise Florida, the Foundation for Florida’s Future, the 17th Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission, the Florida Council of 100, the Florida Chamber of Commerce, the Florida Government Efficiency Task Force and Workforce Florida, now known as CareerSource Florida.
