Governor Rick Scott and Congressman Ron DeSantis have easily won their Republican primary races to be Florida’s next Senator and Governor, respectively.

Fox News announced the results just a few minutes after 8:00 pm ET, after the final polls closed in the Panhandle. The AP has also confirmed this result.

Scott will go on to face incumbent Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) for the general. The Democratic primary for Governor remains to be settled but former Congresswoman Gwen Graham — herself the daughter of former Florida Governor Bob Graham — is the current front runner, with a narrow lead over and Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum are battling it out for the Democratic nomination. [This post was updated after Gillum surged in Broward and Miami-Dade precincts.]

Both Scott and DeSantis were endorsed by President Donald Trump and polls showed that to be an advantage among Florida Republican primary voters.
