Chris King releases new video highlighting support for gun control measures and “March for Our Lives” rally

The campaign of Democratic gubernatorial candidate Chris King released a new digital ad Thursday morning focusing on recent gun violence and King’s support of gun control measures..

The :39 ad (see below), called “March On,” features footage of King taking part in Saturday’s “March for Our Lives” in Orlando and the rally that followed. King, an Orlando area businessman, pledged to ban assault weapons and take on the NRA as governor.

“Will you help me take on the NRA?” King asks in the spot. “Will you help me ban assault weapons in the state of Florida? Will you help me bring universal background checks to Florida?”

The ad will be targeted at Democratic voters on Facebook across the state.

Polls have consistently shown King at the bottom of the list of Democrats who are currently seeking their party’s nomination for governor in August, including the The Capitolist’s  HorseRace Index. He trails former Miami Beach mayor Philip Levine, former U.S. Rep. Gwen Graham and Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum.

The Orlando march was one of several held in Washington, D.C., and across the country and the world that were organized in response to last month’s school shooting in Parkland that killed 17 students and teachers.

“Are we ready to follow the students of Parkland? King is shown asking participants in the march. “Are we ready to change the future of Florida?”

All four Democratic candidates have made gun control measures, such as banning assault weapons and high capacity gun magazines, an issue in recent weeks. Recent polls taken following the Parkland shootings have shown growing support for such measures among Floridians.
