Governor Ron DeSantis has appointed Major General John Haas to lead the Florida National Guard.

DeSantis announced that Haas will serve as the new Florida National Guard Adjutant General, succeeding retiring Maj. Gen. James Eifert.

“We are grateful to General Eifert for his dedicated service to our state and nation. He led the Florida National Guard through several activations, including Hurricane Ian, and fought back against vaccine mandates in the military,” DeSantis said on Twitter. “We wish him fair winds and following seas in his retirement.”

Major General Haas most recently served under Eifert as the Assistant Adjutant General.

Prior to his stint with the Army and the Commander of the Florida Army National Guard (FLARNG), Haas was the Director of Strategic Plans, Policies, and Programs for the Florida National Guard.

According to the Governor’s Office, General Haas has completed three combat tours and has held multiple company-level commands including Battalion Operations Officer, Squadron Executive Officer, and Squadron Commander of the 1-153rd Cavalry Squadron. He has also received many awards including the Combat Infantry Badge, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, and the Meritorious Service Medal.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and his master’s degree in strategic studies from the United States Army War College.

No offense, but this is how corruption spreads quickly through our government. A few corrupt people get their heels in, then they appoint more corrupted folk. Now I will admit I don’t know anything about Haas, but when one corrupted person appoints someone, it makes me concerned.

If DeSantis had appointed the virgin mary to lead the national guard, something tells me you would probably have the same concern. I’m sure DeSantis will appoint many others before his term ends. Better have a plentiful supply of ‘concerned’ pills on hand.
