After serving for nearly six months as Florida’s Transportation Secretary, Michael Dew has submitted his resignation. He’s leaving to join the transition team for Gov.-elect Ron DeSantis.

His last day on the job will be Dec. 3.

Dew held several jobs with the state of Florida, all with Gov. Rick Scott’s administration. Prior to being named Transportation Secretary in June of this year, Dew served as the chief of staff of DOT. Before that, he served as the Chief of Staff of the Florida Department of Corrections from 2012 – 2014, and as Director of External Affairs for Governor Scott from 2011-2012.

Prior to moving to Florida, Dew worked for presidential candidate John McCain as an “advance man” during the 2008 election and for President George W. Bush during the 2004 election.

FDOT general counsel Erik Fenniman will take over the role of acting secretary.
