The Florida Elections Canvassing Commission certified the state’s 2022 General Election results on Tuesday, officially confirming the winner of each individual race.

Due to the relatively large margins of victories seen across the state on Election Day, the commission, made up of Gov. Ron DeSantis, Attorney General Ashley Moody, and state Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis, easily certified the race with no further discussion needed, since no disputes were brought forth.

“As a member of the Elections Canvassing Commission, I was honored today to certify the official Florida voting returns for the 2022 general election results statewide, including Governor Ron DeSantis, Attorney General Ashley Moody, Commissioner-elect Wilton Simpson, and members of the Florida Legislature,” said state Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis, a member of the Canvassing Commission. “Over the past few years, Governor DeSantis worked with the Florida Legislature to ensure that Florida’s election integrity is second to none and cemented our reputation of counting votes quickly, efficiently, and professionally.”

The Republican Party of Florida exceeded its previously sky-high expectations on election night, positioning itself to hold a supermajority in both the state House and Senate.

At the final whistle of midterm elections, state Republicans hold 85 seats in the Florida House and 28 in the Senate, emerging victorious in nearly every competitive race. En route to attaining the supermajority, Republican newcomers ousted a series of established Democrat lawmakers including Loranne Ausley and Janet Cruz.

As for Democrats, House Minority Leader Fentrice Driskell announced her leadership committee this week, laying the groundwork for House Democrats to work to take back lost seats in the next election.

Rep. Dotie Joseph was chosen as leader pro tempore, while Rep. Kelly Skidmore was tapped to serve as policy chairwoman. Rep. Mike Gottlieb will become the next floor leader, and Rep. Christine Hunschofsky was selected as House Democratic whip, according to News Service of Florida.
