Florida Insurance Commissioner Mike Yaworsky on Monday approved an average 7% reduction in auto insurance rates for USAA Group, affecting more than 498,000 policies statewide, the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation announced Monday.
The approved decreases vary by insurance program, with average rate changes ranging from 0.4% to 11.2%. Some policyholders could receive reductions greater than the overall 7% average.
USAA’s largest concentrations of business in Florida are in Brevard, Escambia and Okaloosa counties, where average rate reductions will be 5.8%, 8% and 8.4%, respectively.
“The Office of Insurance Regulation is constantly reaching out to insurers to inquire about rate relief, and USAA is always stepping up to the plate and looking out for their consumers,” Yaworsky said. He added that the reductions would provide savings to more than 498,000 policyholders.
The latest reductions follow previous financial returns to USAA members in Florida. Between December 2025 and July 2026, the company provided nearly $1 billion through rate reductions and direct member returns, including a $500 million dividend distributed to approximately 830,000 members.
The Office of Insurance Regulation also reported broader reductions across Florida’s auto insurance market. As of this fall, the state’s five largest auto insurance groups, collectively representing approximately 81% of the market, reported an indicated rate change of negative 12.6% for 2026.
Additionally, Florida recorded a personal auto liability loss ratio of 52.5% in 2025, the state’s lowest in 15 years and the lowest among all states, according to the office.
The loss ratio measures the proportion of premiums insurers pay toward claims, providing an indicator of underwriting performance.
