Florida Drivers Saw Lowest July 4 Gas Prices Since 2021

Florida gas prices climbed ahead of the Independence Day holiday but still marked the lowest average for the Fourth of July since 2021, according to AAA.

The statewide average rose 20 cents early last week before easing by six cents through the weekend, settling at $3.08 per gallon on Sunday. That represents a 12-cent increase over the previous week.

On July 4, 2025, Florida drivers paid an average of $3.11 per gallon, which is 42 cents less than on the same day in 2024 and 15 cents below the 2023 holiday rate. AAA attributed the relative affordability to lower oil prices and steady national market conditions.

“Lower oil prices helped make this Independence Day one of the most affordable in recent years,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman for AAA. “In Florida, however, prices continue to fluctuate week to week, as local stations adjust prices to remain competitive with nearby retailers. When prices eventually reach a low that’s no longer profitable, retailers raise them back up. This strategy has fueled short-term volatility at the pump—even as national prices and other drivers relatively stable.”

As of Sunday, the national average for regular unleaded stood at $3.15 per gallon. Florida’s average was slightly lower at $3.08, while Georgia drivers paid $2.90 on average.

Gas prices continue to vary widely by region within Florida. West Palm Beach-Boca Raton reported the highest metro average at $3.25 per gallon, followed by Naples at $3.16 and Sebring at $3.13. The lowest prices were found in Crestview-Fort Walton Beach at $2.79, Panama City at $2.85, and Pensacola at $2.88.
