Florida’s average gas price has dropped 59 cents over the past year, falling to $3.00 per gallon as of Sunday, according to new data released by AAA – The Auto Club Group. The figure reflects the lowest daily average recorded statewide since March 24 and comes amid broader declines in retail fuel prices across the United States.

Compared to a month ago, Florida’s average is down by two cents. Over the past week alone, prices have fallen by 11 cents, contributing to the larger year-over-year decrease. Nationally, the average price for regular unleaded gasoline stands at $3.15 per gallon, a decline of more than 50 cents from this time last year.

“An 11-cent drop may not turn heads, but every little bit adds up for drivers navigating the road and their budgets,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman of AAA. “Unfortunately, the downward trend may not continue much longer. Oil prices moved higher last week after the U.S. imposed sanctions on Iranian oil.”

The drop follows moderate volatility in global oil markets. AAA noted that crude oil prices rose by more than $3 per barrel last week—an increase of roughly five percent—after the United States imposed new sanctions on Iranian oil exports. Gasoline futures climbed 10 cents over the same period, suggesting the recent downward trend in retail pump prices may not continue.

In Florida, regional price differences remain pronounced. The most expensive metro areas include West Palm Beach-Boca Raton at $3.15 per gallon, Gainesville at $3.09, and Ocala at $3.07. Meanwhile, drivers in the Panhandle are seeing the lowest averages, with Crestview-Fort Walton Beach at $2.75, Pensacola at $2.78, and Panama City at $2.83.
