Florida’s average gas price fell to $2.95 per gallon on Sunday, the lowest recorded in a month, according to AAA – The Auto Club Group, marking a 14-cent drop from the previous week, but rising global tensions are expected to reverse that trend in the coming days.

AAA officials warn that gas prices could begin climbing again as early as Monday following a sharp increase in crude oil prices driven by escalating conflict between Israel and Iran. U.S. crude jumped 13 percent last week, closing at $72.98 per barrel on Friday—an $8.40 increase from the week prior and the highest daily settlement since February 11.

“Escalating tensions between Israel and Iran drove oil prices higher last week,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman for AAA. “As a result, U.S. gas prices are expected to rise this week. The extent of the increase is uncertain, but drivers could begin seeing gas prices move higher on Monday.”

The current state average remains significantly lower than one year ago, when Florida drivers were paying $3.26 per gallon. Nationally, prices also fell slightly, with the U.S. average at $3.13 per gallon on Sunday, down from $3.14 the week before.

Regional variations persist across Florida. The highest prices were reported in West Palm Beach-Boca Raton at $3.11 per gallon, followed by Gainesville at $3.05 and Naples at $3.04. The most affordable metro markets were Panama City at $2.80, Crestview-Fort Walton Beach at $2.81, and Melbourne-Titusville at $2.83.
