Florida GOP: Nikki Fried’s economic remarks “out of touch”

The Florida GOP criticized Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried’s recent comments on the U.S. economy, arguing that her statements are disconnected from the economic challenges faced by Floridians.

The Florida GOP on Monday criticized comments made by Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried regarding the U.S. economy, describing her statements as disconnected from the economic challenges faced by Floridians.

During a Sunday evening appearance on CBS Miami, Fried praised the Biden administration’s economic performance. She asserted that President Joe Biden has reduced inflation, lowered food prices, and overseen consistent job growth.

“When it comes to the economy, Joe Biden has reduced inflation, the prices of food are going down, we are seeing every single month overperforming of jobs being produced,” she said.

Florida GOP Chairman Evan Power responded on Monday afternoon, arguing that Fried’s comments do not align with the economic realities many Floridians face.

“With tone-deaf comments like these, it’s no wonder Florida Democrats are nearly extinct,” Power said. “Nikki Fried is clearly out of touch with the economic realities facing Floridians under Joe Biden’s leadership.”

Power highlighted specific economic challenges, citing significant price increases for essential goods.

“In Biden’s America, the price of gas has jumped more than 50%, real household wages have declined, and the cost of basic goods has skyrocketed,” Power continued. “With the cost of sugar increasing by 44 percent, butter up 27 percent, and bread up 30 percent, one must wonder when Nikki Fried last visited a grocery store.”

The criticism comes as tensions between the parties have proliferated, with Florida Democrats contending that the state is “in play” for the 2024 election cycle.
