Florida Senate President Ben Albritton told senators Tuesday that the chamber will convene next week for a three-week special session aimed at completing the state budget and related legislation.
In a proclamation communicated with state senators, issued jointly with the House, Albritton said the Senate will meet at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12, for Special Session E. Albritton added that the Senate will use its first sitting to complete procedural steps needed to resume work from where the chamber left off at the end of the regular session and move quickly into budget conference negotiations with the House.
Because the work is being handled in a new special session, the Senate will need to file new versions of its budget bill, implementing bill, conforming bills and tax relief package. Albritton said those measures will be identical to the versions filed by the Senate during the regular session. The House will host the budget conference this year.
