Florida Medical Association names Dr. Lisa Cosgrove as 148th President


The Florida Medical Association (FMA) announced Dr. Lisa A. Cosgrove, a retired pediatrician with extensive leadership experience in Florida’s medical community, as its 148th President.


The Florida Medical Association (FMA) announced Lisa A. Cosgrove as its 148th President during the FMA Annual Meeting on Saturday in Orlando.

Cosgrove is a board-certified pediatrician with four decades in medical practice and retired in 2019 and remains highly influential and advocates for Florida’s physicians and patients. She is a third-generation physician from Little Rock, Arkansas whose career began as a nurse in the pediatric neonatal intensive care unit at Miami Children’s Hospital. Cosgrove received her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine and completed her residency training at Emory University.

In 1993, Cosgrove moved to Florida and joined Atlantic Coast Pediatrics on Merritt Island. Since then, she has held various leadership positions in organized medicine. Before becoming the FMA President-Elect in 2023, Dr. Cosgrove served as FMA Vice President (2022-2023) and FMA Secretary (2019-2022). She also was the Specialty Society Representative to the FMA Board of Governors and is a longtime FMA PAC member.

Further, Cosgrove also served as the former president of the Florida Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Brevard County Medical Society, and the American Academy of Pediatrics’ District X chair.

“As the Florida Medical Association celebrates its 150th anniversary this year, we congratulate Dr. Lisa Cosgrove on being named to lead the FMA as our 2024-2025 president,” said FMA CEO Chris Clark. “Dr. Cosgrove’s distinguished leadership and dedication to Florida’s patients and the field of medicine will allow our organization to continue its impactful presence as the state’s premier voice of medicine.”

The FMA also announced its officers for 2024-25. Ashley Norse, MD, specializing in emergency medicine in Jacksonville, will serve as President-Elect. Charles Chase, DO, an anesthesiologist from Winter Park, will take on the role of Vice President. Mark Rubenstein, MD, a physiatrist from Jupiter, has been named Treasurer. The Speaker of the FMA will be Sanjay Pattani, MD, an emergency medicine physician from Windermere, with Alma Littles, MD, a family medicine practitioner from Tallahassee, serving as Vice Speaker. Jason Goldman, MD, an internal medicine specialist from Coral Springs, will serve as Immediate Past President.
