The witch hunt is over, and now lawmakers can get back to work.
On Wednesday, President Donald Trump was officially acquitted — as expected — by the United States Senate. The chamber overwhelmingly found Trump not guilty of both articles of impeachment
By a final vote of 52-48 against conviction on the abuse of power charge and 53-47 against conviction on the obstruction charge, the Senate fell well short of the two-thirds, 67-vote supermajority needed to convict and remove the president.
The crucial vote wasn’t without its controversy. The former presidential candidate turned Senator Mitt Romney crossed party lines, voting to convict Trump along with Democrats.
Following the vote, officials around the state reacted to vote. Here are some of the biggest reactions from yesterday’s vote.
U.S. Senator Rick Scott first weighed-in on the Romney’s vote to convict Trump in an interview with Dana Perino on Fox News. Scott was candid, believing that Romney’s vote will be the downfall of his political career.
Senator Romney is wrong. His decision to buy into Adam Schiff’s partisan charade is disappointing. And he will ultimately be judged by the voters of Utah.

He then released a statement that was short and sweet.
My statement on today’s vote to acquit @realDonaldTrump is simple:
Finally. I’m glad that charade is over. Let’s get back to work.

Senator Marco Rubio took aim at “fake news” outlets, and how they reported Trump’s acquittal.
The reaction to the final vote in the #SenateImpeachmentTrial is a good reminder that when editorial boards, opinion writers & cable news commentators talk about putting “principle over politics” & “country over party” what they really mean is agreeing with them.

U.S. Representative Ross Spano called the impeachment a “sham” and a waste of taxpayers money.
Its Time to Move On…. President @realDonaldTrump has been vindicated from #ImpeachmentTrial! #FL15

U.S. Representative Vern Buchanan commented, saying that legislators can “get back to work” now that the partisan impeachment is over.
Now that the partisan impeachment of President Trump has failed, it’s time for Congress to get back to work. Let’s join together and tackle our real challenges – starting with Washington dysfunction and a toxic political system that leaves no room for compromise.
