U.S. Rep. Laurel Lee secured endorsements from the sheriffs of all four counties represented in Florida’s 15th Congressional District, her campaign announced Monday, as she seeks reelection in November.
Rep. Lee stated that Citrus County Sheriff David Vincent, Hernando County Sheriff Al Nienhuis, Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister and Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco have endorsed her candidacy. All four cited Lee’s record on public safety, support for law enforcement and previous experience as a federal prosecutor and circuit court judge as reasons for their endorsements.
Vincent said Lee’s background in the judicial system has influenced her legislative priorities, particularly policies intended to strengthen public safety and support law enforcement agencies.
Nienhuis similarly emphasized Lee’s efforts to provide officers and prosecutors with resources to carry out their responsibilities.
“Laurel has consistently stood with law enforcement and understands the importance of giving officers and prosecutors the support and resources they need to keep our communities safe and hold criminals accountable,” Nienhuis said.
Nocco pointed to Lee’s advocacy for law enforcement equipment and resources, while Chronister described her as a consistent supporter of public safety throughout her career in government.
Lee thanked the sheriffs for their endorsements, citing her experience working alongside law enforcement personnel during her legal career.
“As a former prosecutor and judge, I have seen firsthand the sacrifices our law enforcement officers make every day to keep our communities safe, and I will always stand with the men and women who serve,” Lee said.
First elected to Congress in 2022 and reelected in 2024, Lee currently serves on the House Judiciary, Energy and Commerce, and House Administration committees.
Before entering Congress, Lee served as Florida’s secretary of state, spent six years as a Hillsborough County circuit judge and worked as a federal prosecutor in the Middle District of Florida.
