Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis on Monday appointed former state representative Frank White to the Citizens Property Insurance Corporation Board of Governors.

From 2016 to 2018, White represented parts of Northwest Florida in the state House, where he was involved in health care, business and appropriations policy. During his tenure, he supported legislation creating Triumph Gulf Coast, a $1.5 billion economic recovery fund for counties affected by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. He was also appointed by then-Gov. Rick Scott to the Florida Development Finance Corporation Board, where he served as chair, and to the Board of Trustees of Pensacola State College.

White is the founder and CEO of Tag Tech, a company that develops title processing software for auto dealerships, fleet owners and auctions. He also serves as general counsel for Sandy Sansing Automotive, a dealership group operating in Florida, Alabama and Indiana. Before entering the private sector, he practiced corporate law at Akin Gump, a national firm where he focused on business transactions and securities law.

Patronis, in a statement, said White’s experience as a business owner and attorney would benefit Citizens policyholders.

“I’m proud to appoint Frank White to serve on the Citizens Board of Governors,” Patronis said. “As a small business owner, attorney, and former state representative, I have no doubt that Frank’s expertise and insight will be an asset to Citizens policyholders statewide. Thank you to outgoing board member Scott Thomas for his years of service and hard work on behalf of Floridians.”

Citizens, established by the Florida Legislature in 2002, provides property insurance to homeowners unable to secure coverage in the private market. The Board of Governors oversees the corporation’s operations, financial stability and policy decisions amid ongoing challenges in the state’s property insurance sector.
