Gov. Ron DeSantis on Thursday appointed state Rep. Jenna Persons-Mulicka to serve as Lee County supervisor of elections, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of longtime Supervisor Tommy Doyle.
Persons-Mulicka, a Fort Myers Republican, has represented House District 78 since 2020 and is serving her third term in the Florida House. She is expected to be sworn in in the coming days, according to an announcement from her campaign. The Lee County elections office has been led on an interim basis by Chief Deputy Bernie Feliciano since January, when Doyle retired.
Persons-Mulicka said in a statement that she would bring the same focus on election administration to the county office that she pursued in the Legislature.
“It is the honor of a lifetime to be appointed by Governor DeSantis to serve as Lee County’s Supervisor of Elections,” said Persons-Mulicka. “Election integrity has been my top priority in Tallahassee, and I will bring that same commitment to this office. Every Lee County voter deserves to know that their vote counts.”
During her time in the House, Persons-Mulicka has sponsored or supported election-related legislation dealing with voter identification, petition-gathering rules and restrictions tied to noncitizen voting.
