Griff Griffitts announced today that his campaign has raised over $100,000 since launching his bid earlier this year.

Griffitts, a Bay County commissioner who represents District 5, touted the fundraising haul in a press release on Wednesday, noting his campaign raised another $15,000 in June putting his total war chest at $100,000 in total a full year before qualifying. The Panama City businessman launched his campaign for Florida House District 6 back in March. The red meat district encompasses coastal Bay County, including Panama City, Panama City Beach, Lynn Haven and Mexico Beach.

“We are pleased beyond words to have another strong showing of support for our campaign,” Griffitts said in today’s press release. “But we are taking nothing for granted, and over the next several weeks, we will be announcing support from key community leaders who are endorsing our campaign.”

Griffitts is no stranger to the district he seeks to represent. He is a third-generation Bay County resident, graduating from Bay High School in 1989 before earning his political science degree in 1993 from Florida State University. He and his brother are co-owners of a home construction business

Griffitts also served six years on the Panama City Beach Civil Service Board, nine years on the Bay County Planning Commission and is currently serving on the Bay County Tourist Development Council. He is a member of the Bay Medical Sacred Heart board of trustees. He is also a member of the Florida State-Panama City Foundation Development Board and has served as the chairman of the Panama City Beach Chamber of Commerce and as a board member of the Bay County Chamber of Commerce.

HD 6, a right-leaning district, is represented by Republican State Representative Jay Trumbull who is term-limited heading into the 2022 election.

“Representative Jay Trumbull has done an outstanding job representing our values in the legislature, and I am committed to maintaining that legacy for a stronger Bay County,” Griffitts added.

The only other candidate in the race for HD 6 is Republican Brian Clowdus.
