It’s a Homecoming for Senate President Joe Negron

by | Jun 29, 2017

Six months after leaving his job as an attorney, Senate President Joe Negron is joining Akerman LLP in West Palm Beach, one of the largest law firms in the country.

The new gig should be familiar to Negron in that it’s a homecoming. Negron worked at Akerman from 2005 to 2010.

Negron announced last January he would be leaving his firm, Gunster Law, to avoid the look of impropriety and to avoid a conflict of interest as he lead the way for a bill that would curb Lake Okeechobee discharges. A client of Gunster opposed the bill that was passed during the past Florida session.

Negron will continue as the Florida Senate president until 2018.

Negron is a graduate of Stetson University. He went on to Emory University for his law degree and also has a master’s degree in public administration from Harvard University.
