Kat Cammack releases new video discussing her pro-life background

Republican congressional candidate Kat Cammack released a new video on Monday, discussing her pro-life stance and outlining personal reasons why she will defend the unborn and advocate for life if elected to Florida’s 3rd Congressional District.

The ad, titled “That’s Why,” features the small business owner discussing her mother’s decision to not abort her, despite doctors and family members advising Cammack’s mother to do so.

“When my mom was pregnant with me the doctors told her, because she had a stroke with my sister, that she wouldn’t be able to have children again, Cammack says in the 30-second spot. “So when she found out she was pregnant, the doctors advised her to abort me.”

“When given the choice, my mom chose life. And that’s why I’m pro-life,” Kammack concludes.

Cammack, the former Deputy Chief of Staff for Congressman Ted Yoho, expanded on her pro-life views following the release of the video.

“I will always choose life. I am incredibly blessed that my mother chose to defy the advice of not only her doctors, but of my own family, to bring me into the world. Countless other babies have not been as fortunate as I was, which is why I will always fight for the unborn in the same way my mother did for me,” Cammack said in a press release.

“As science continues to advance in support of policies that protect life, we are winning on this issue. However, it is crucial that we have more young women advocating for the unborn in leadership positions across our country. I believe that as a young millennial woman myself, I will have an important role of speaking to new generations of Americans about pro-life policies in a way that connects with them. If elected, I will proudly take on that important responsibility both on Capitol Hill and right here at home in FL-03.”

Cammack, who is in a statistical tie for first in polling in the Republican Primary, is one of 10 Republicans looking to replace Yoho who is retiring at the end of his current term.

She has been endorsed by several big-name backers including U.S. Senator Rand Paul and We Build the Wall founder Brian Kolfage. Cammack’s campaign has also announced endorsements from more local leaders, activists, and elected officials than anyone else in the race.

Also seeking the GOP nomination are businessman Judson Sapp, Clay County Commissioner Gavin Rollins, Gainesville City Commissioner Todd Chase, former congressional aide Joe Millado, physician James St. George, businessman Ryan Chamberlin, businessman Bill Engelbrecht, businessman David Theus, and businesswoman Amy Pope Wells.

FL-03 includes Alachua, Bradford, Marion, Union, Putnam, and Clay counties and is largely made up of Republican voters. Yoho won the red district in 2016 earning 57.6% of the vote.
