Today is the last day for candidates in the special election to replace former Florida senator, Frank Artiles, to make an impact on voters in the Miami area.

The special election’s primary for Florida’s Senate District 40 is tomorrow with polling locations opening bright and early.

Among the Democrats, voters will decide between Ana Rivas Logan and Annette Taddeo. Latest polls show Taddeo with a lead over Rivas Logan.

On the Republican side, voters will choose between Representative Jose Felix Diaz, former Senator Alex Diaz de la Portilla and attorney Lorenzo Palomares. Most polls showed Diaz de la Portilla coming out on top.

Also in the race is an NPA Christian “He-Man” Schlaerth.

Winners of the primary will face off in September.

Also on the ballot for the special election in Miami will be a race between two Republicans to fill the seat of Rep. Diaz, who’s vacating the seat to run for Florida Senate.

In that race for Florida House District 116, are Jose Mallea and Daniel Anthony Perez.
