  • Capital City Consulting, led by Nick Iarossi and Ron LaFace, have added Miami-based government affairs expert Miguel Abad to the firm’s roster
  • Abad will focus on local and state policy issues both in Miami and Tallahassee
  • Abad will work with Captial City Consulting’s Miami office, led by Rodney Barreto and Brian May
  • One of Abad’s primary focus areas will be health care and the managed care industry

Capital City Consulting (CCC) today announced that Miguel Abad has joined the firm as a local and state government affairs director. Prior to joining CCC, Miguel was a managing partner at Abad Associates, where he provided the state of Florida and Miami-Dade government public affairs and lobbying services. Specifically, Miguel assisted clients with shaping policy, securing appropriations and government
procurement.

Headed by Rodney Barreto and Brian May, CCC Miami is the premier public affairs practice in Miami, providing local government and business-to-business consulting services to clients in South Florida, as they have done together for the past 25 years. Miguel enhances the South Florida service offerings but also provides state lobbying services before Florida’s executive and legislative branches.

“Miguel is a seasoned public affairs operative,” said May, managing partner of CCC Miami. “He learned the government affairs game from the inside and understands the public-facing dynamics of our business very well. Miguel is able to build relationships and absorb complex subject matter quickly. Both of those qualities make him very effective at navigating the government affairs process, whether it be local or at the state level. He is going to serve our clients well and be an excellent addition to our team.”

“I have always been impressed with Miguel’s attention to detail and ability to find ways to assist with the priorities he worked on for Chairman Rene Garcia,” said Ron LaFace, co-founder of CCC. “Miguel
learned the nuance of government affairs policy in Tallahassee. He then successfully took those skills to Miami-Dade, and I am thrilled he is joining CCC to serve firm clients in South Florida and at the state level.”

“Miguel is the consummate professional. His positive approach to problem-solving and his willingness to lead on difficult issues sets him apart,” said former Senator and current Miami-Dade County Commissioner Rene Garcia. “In my time working with him, Miguel was always someone I could rely upon to get things done. Those qualities will make him an invaluable asset at Capital City Consulting.”

In addition to his experience in the state legislature and in Miami, Miguel also gained knowledge within the Medicaid and Medicare managed care industry, completing his practicum with the Florida Association of Health Plans, Inc. His role focused on advocating on issues that enhance access to high quality, affordable health care. Miguel will also work alongside Tim Gomez and Felipe Angulo at CCC Miami. Gomez and Angulo previously served roles with Miami-Dade County, both for the County Commission and the Mayor’s office.

Capital City Consulting is a full-service public affairs firm located in Tallahassee, Florida, with local offices in Tampa Bay, Broward, and now, in Miami-Dade. CCC specializes in developing unique government relations and public affairs strategies and delivering unrivaled results for Fortune 500, association, coalition and corporate clients before the Florida Legislature and Executive Branch Agencies.
