Molina Healthcare named top-rated Medicaid plan in the state

Molina Healthcare of Florida was named the top-rated Medicaid plan in Florida, earning a rating of 4 out of 5 stars in the National Committee for Quality Assurance’s (NCQA) Medicaid Health Plan Ratings for 2022.

Molina earned high marks in preventative care, specifically for child and adolescent well-care and overall cancer screenings. The pair of metrics are among the two highest ratings overall for the provider, eclipsing four out of five stars in both measures.

Further, primary care doctors offered through Molina’s network of coverage were well-received through 2021, also receiving four stars out of five.

The recognition is the second consecutive year Molina has earned top marks among Medicaid providers in Florida.

“Molina is committed to providing the highest-quality health care to its members throughout Florida, as we have been for the past 14 years,” said Mike Jones, plan president of Molina Healthcare of Florida. “This latest rating is a reflection of our ongoing commitment to our valued members.”

NCQA ratings are based on measures of clinical quality, measures of patient experience, and results from NCQA’s review of a health plan’s health quality processes. The overall rating is the weighted average of a plan’s performance across each of these measures, with bonus points if the plan is accredited by NCQA.

Molina Healthcare of Florida recently made headlines for donating $300,000 to the Florida Disaster Fund, Farm Share, Harry Chapin Food Bank, and Latino Leadership in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian’s devastating impact on Florida communities.

The MolinaCares Accord, the company’s non-profit charity arm through which the donation was facilitated, manages a community investment platform designed to promote the health and well-being of disadvantaged people by sponsoring solutions that improve health in local communities.

“Our hearts go out to all Floridians displaced or affected by Hurricane Ian’s catastrophic damage on our state,” said Jones. “Molina is supporting its longstanding Florida non-profit partners by boosting their capacity to deliver food, water, and other resources desperately needed during this critical recovery period.”
