A new ad released Monday (see below) by the Ron DeSantis campaign for governor features DeSantis’ wife, Casey, and takes a tongue-in-cheek approach to his unabashed support for President Donald Trump.
“Everyone knows my husband Ron DeSantis is endorsed by President Trump. But he’s also an amazing dad. Ron loves playing with the kids,” Casey DeSantis says in the spot.
The video switches to DeSantis helping his daughter build a cardboard wall in their living room.
“Build the wall,” DeSantis tells his daughter.
“He reads stories,” his wife says.
The video switches to DeSantis reading to his young son.
“Then Mr. Trump said ‘You’re fired.’ I love that part,” DeSantis says.
“He’s teaching Madison to talk,” Casey says.
Reading from a Trump campaign sign, Desantis reads to his daughter. “Make America Great Again,” he says.
“People say Ron’s all Trump, but he is so much more,” Casey adds.
“Big league, so good,” said DeSantis.
Casey ends the spot by saying: “I just thought you should know.”
In December, the president suggested DeSantis would be a “great” governor for Florida, which led to DeSantis’ announcement a few weeks later that he was entering the race.

Last month, Trump announced his “full endorsement” of DeSantis in a Twitter post.
“Congressman Ron DeSantis, a top student at Yale and Harvard Law school, is running for Governor of the Great State of Florida,” Trump posted on Twitter. “Ron is strong on Borders, tough on Crime & big on Cutting Taxes – Loves our Military & our Vets. He will be a Great Governor & has my full Endorsement!”

DeSantis, who had been trailing his opponent Adam Putnam in the race for the GOP nomination for governor, appeared to build momentum from Trump’s endorsement and last week emerged as the frontrunner in polls released by Florida Atlantic University and Mason-Dixon Polling.
Trump is scheduled to appear with DeSantis Tuesday at a rally in Tampa.
