Democrat Philip Levine announced new additions to his communications team on Thursday as he continues to build his campaign staff in his bid for governor.

The former Miami Beach mayor appointed William Miller to serve as his deputy communications director, and  Guillermo Perez to be his hispanic media coordinator,.

“Our campaign is building the infrastructure and campaign operation to win in August and November,” said Christian Ulvert, senior advisor to the Levine campaign. “With the Primary eletion fast approaching, our team is well positioned to continue to effectively reach voters throughout Florida.”

Miller has served as communications coordinator with the campaign since its beginning last fall. Prior to that, he worked for Hillary for America as press assistant, where he helped with messaging and coordinating press events in the South Florida region.

“As our campaign builds momentum ahead of the August primary, William will help implement our communications strategy, working to ensure the Mayor’s vision and record of progressive accomplishment reaches voters in all of Florida’s 67 counties,” said Ulvert.

Perez currently serves as a communicators coordinator under Ulvert’s firm, EDGE Communications, where he has been since the start of 2018. Before joining EDGE, Perez served as a press intern in the office of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and for US Senator Richard Blumenthal.

“We are also excited to integrate Guillermo Perez as our Hispanic Media Coordinator where he will ensure that Mayor Levine—the only bilingual candidate on either side of the aisle—is taking his message to the diverse, Spanish-speaking communities across our state,” Ulvert added.

I was a Republican all my life until the first Republican presidential debate in 2015. I voted for Hilary as a vote against Trump. I am now an Independent, and I support Phil Levine’s candidacy. I am a retired principal, Miami-Dade County Public Schools, and I totally support Phil’s stand on quality public education. Before I became an administrator, I taught history & government, senior high through post secondary. In analyzing voter trends in Florida in 2016, I realize the importance of the 18-25 and African-American voting groups among others in order to defeat the Trump/NRA candidates.
I would like to volunteer to assist in the campaign and would like to communicate with someone on the Communications staff.
