Point Blank Enterprises, a manufacturer of body armor and protective solutions for military and law enforcement agencies, will establish a new facility in Wakulla County, bringing 300 new jobs to the region as part of a multi-agency economic development effort.

The company’s expansion includes the construction of a 118,000-square-foot manufacturing plant at Opportunity Park and is backed by more than $22 million in combined state and regional funding.

Governor Ron DeSantis announced the project Monday.

“The expansion of Point Blank Enterprises to Wakulla County is result of ongoing commitment to infrastructure improvements and economic opportunity across Florida, including in our rural communities, said Gov. DeSantis. “We’re focused on making strategic investments that help the hard-working families of our great state achieve the American Dream.”

Wakulla County was awarded $3.5 million in April through the Florida Job Growth Grant Fund to support site development and utility improvements at the park. That award followed a $4.5 million grant from the Rural Infrastructure Fund issued in December, bringing the state’s total investment to $8 million.

In addition to state support, Triumph Gulf Coast, a nonprofit entity that administers economic recovery funds from the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill settlement, committed $13.5 million to the project. The University of West Florida’s Haas Center is contributing $500,000 to conduct economic research and workforce planning related to the facility’s operation.

Point Blank Enterprises said the new location will create high-wage positions with an average annual salary of $52,900, plus more than $8,000 in benefits.

The company also plans to collaborate with local institutions including Florida State University’s High Performance Materials Institute and the Wakulla School District’s Career and Technical Education programs to develop workforce training pipelines and support long-term economic growth.

The combined investment is expected to generate more than $64 million in wages and over $13 million in regional economic impact.

Founded in 1973, Point Blank Enterprises is headquartered in Pompano Beach and supplies armor systems to federal agencies, law enforcement departments, and military units worldwide.
