- For 25 consecutive years, the company has been recognized by Fortune as a great place to work
Publix has been named on the 2022 Best Workplaces in Retail list by Fortune.
The Florida-based grocery chain ranked No. 5 of the 20 best large retail workplaces. Publix associates say the company’s dedication to service, welcoming culture, desire to give back and support for associates to take time off when they need it are some of the reasons they enjoy working for the company, which has more than 1,300 stores across seven states.
“We’ve made an effort to stay true to the philosophies Publix was founded on 92 years ago,” said Publix Director of Communications Maria Brous. “It’s gratifying to be recognized on this list because the results are directly from the feedback and experiences of our associates.”
In a press release, Publix highlighted the company’s culture, which provides associates with on-the-job training, promote-from-within opportunities, and tuition reimbursement programs to help further their career goals. The company also offers paid parental leave for eligible full- and part-time associates to take time off with pay within the first year after the birth or adoption of a child.,
As the largest employee-owned company in the country, eligible Publix associates can also become company owners through its employee stock ownership plan and have the ability to purchase additional shares in the company through its employee stock purchase plan.
Publix also remains committed to alleviating hunger and helping the environment in the communities it serves. The company partners with its customers and associates to provide produce and nonperishable food to local food banks and monetary support to nonprofits. Publix also encourages its associates to serve their local communities during its two annual Publix Serves Weeks, when associates volunteer together across the company’s entire footprint.
Additionally, Publix supports initiatives like donating to protect, restore and conserve areas of the Florida Everglades.
Great Place to Work analyzed survey feedback representing more than 1 million employees working in the retail industry in the United States. Questions focused on their experiences with their companies, including innovation, company values and effectiveness of leaders.
