Renner rounds out House leadership team



House Speaker Paul Renner, R-Palm Coast, expanded his field of floor lieutenants as he rounded out his committee chairs and vice chairs in advance of the 2023 legislative session that begins March 7. Serving under Port Charlotte Republican Rep. Michael Grant, who was previously tapped as Renner’s majority leader, will be Rep. John Snyder, R-Stuart, as deputy majority leader and Rep. Adam Botana, R-Bonita Springs, as chief floor whip.

Botana also will serve as vice chairman of the House Select Committee on Hurricane Resiliency & Recovery, which is led by Grant. Other notable appointments involve budget subcommittees, which piece together different parts of the annual state spending plan before reaching the Appropriations Committee.

Renner on Friday named Rep. Thad Altman, R-Indialantic, as chairman of the Agriculture & Natural Resources Appropriations Subcommittee.

Renner’s Friday appointments also include: Rep. Sam Garrison, R-Fleming Island, as chairman of the Health Care Appropriations Subcommittee; Rep. Jason Shoaf, R-Port St. Joe, as chairman of the Higher Education Appropriations Subcommittee; Rep. Alex Andrade, R-Pensacola, as chairman of the Infrastructure & Tourism Appropriations Subcommittee; Rep. Chuck Brannan, R-Macclenny, as chairman of the Justice Appropriations Subcommittee; Rep. Josie Tomkow, R-Polk City, as chairwoman of the PreK-12 Appropriations Subcommittee; and Rep. Demi Busatta Cabrera, R-Coral Gables, as chairwoman of the State Administration & Technology Appropriations Subcommittee.

State Rep. Tom Leek, R-Ormond Beach, is chairman of the House Appropriations Committee.
