U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis’ campaign is launching a $12 million ad buy that will cover the next nine weeks leading up to the August 28 primary election. As part of that ad buy, DeSantis unveiled a :30 spot (see below) called “Only DeSantis” that tells his biography and focuses on the endorsement he received from President Donald Trump on Friday.

“Ron DeSantis. Iraq war veteran, Jag officer who dealt with terrorists at Guantanamo Bay,” the announcer says in the spot. “Ron DeSantis. The guts to fight establishment politicians in both parties to drain the swamp.”

The final portion of the ad touches on the “full endorsement” by Trump that came in one of the president’s posts on Twitter last week.

“And backed by the big man himself,” the announcer says. “President Trump says Ron DeSantis is a, quote, ‘brilliant leader’ and an ‘absolute warrior,’”

“Today, the first of the Ron DeSantis campaign television ads hit Florida airwaves as part of a $12 Million ad buy between now and Election Day,” the campaign said in a news release. “The ad, sponsored by Friend(s) of Ron DeSantis, comes just days after President Trump doubled down a ‘Full Endorsement’ for DeSantis.”

The ad buy announcement comes days before DeSantis and his Republican opponent Adam Putnam face-off against each other on Thursday in a primary debate hosted by Fox News at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Orlando.

Fox News released a poll Thursday, in which Putnam received the support of 32 percent of the Republicans surveyed, while DeSantis received 17 percent. More than third, 39 percent, were undecided.
