CHIME conducts the annual survey to identify and recognize the adoption of best practices in information technology by healthcare provider organizations, with the goal of improving patient safety and outcomes by driving change in healthcare IT.

This year, the survey grew by 20 percent, despite the pandemic, and represents over 38,000 facilities from 10 countries.

The survey covers multiple categories to assess how effectively healthcare organizations are utilizing digital health platforms and technologies

“This award is a testament to SMH’s ongoing commitment to invest in advanced and innovative technology that enhances patient care, communication, and connectivity,” said SMH Chief Information Officer Pam Ramhofer.

In a past press release, Sarasota Memorial highlighted that its inpatient volumes have increased by more than 30 percent over the last five years.

The hospital system’s Sarasota campus was regularly at capacity before the onset of COVID-19, and faced workforce limitations during pandemic-related patient surges.

Further, the healthcare provider reported a record number of patients during and following the landfall of Hurricane Ian.
