Florida state Senator Jim Boyd endorsed Rep. Tom Leek’s campaign for state Senator, highlighting Leek’s fiscal conservatism and close working relationship, as Leek seeks to succeed Sen. Travis Hutson in Senate District 7.
Florida state Senator Jim Boyd on Tuesday endorsed Rep. Tom Leek’s campaign for state Senator, securing another endorsement.
“I worked alongside Tom Leek throughout the budgetary process in addressing the challenges and opportunities facing Floridians. We acted as fiscal conservatives, always mindful we were expending the taxpayers’ dollars, and from that close working relationship I strongly endorse his bid for the State Senate,” said Boyd.
Leek was first elected to House District 25 in 2016 and re-elected in 2022 to serve House District 28. He currently sits as Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee and previously chaired the Public Ethics and Integrity Committee, the Pandemics and Public Emergencies Committee, and the Redistricting Committee.
Now, he aims to succeed Sen. Travis Hutson in Senate District 7, which encompasses parts of Volusia, St. Johns County, and Putnam County. He faces two Republican opponents: former wrestler Gerry James and former Sheriff David Shoar.
“Thank you to Senator Jim Boyd for his support of my campaign as together we work to serve the people of Florida in our State Senate,” Leek said.
Leek has also received endorsements from U.S. Representatives Michael Waltz and Cory Mills, Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis, all four sheriffs within SD 7, Gov. Ron DeSantis, and Attorney General Ashley Moody.
