Senate President-Designate Ben Albritton backs Randy Fine for Senate District 19

Senate President-Designate Ben Albritton endorsed Rep. Randy Fine for Senate District 19, joining previous endorsements from Republicans including Sen. Rick Scott and former President Donald Trump.

Senate President-Designate Ben Albritton endorsed Rep. Randy Fine on Tuesday in his run for Senate District 19.

Fine, a Republican representing a portion of Brevard County, faces Robyn Hathaway and Chuck Sheridan in the district primary, with Vance Ahrens running as a Democrat. The seat is currently occupied by Sen. Debbie Mayfield, who is term-limited and set to transition to the House of Representatives.

“Randy Fine has unapologetically fought for the shared conservative values that continue to preserve freedom and opportunity for all Floridians,” Albritton said in a released statement. “I’m proud to endorse Randy because he is an important voice at a time when we need it most.”

Fine has also garnered endorsements from Republican figures including Sen. Rick Scott and former President Donald Trump.

Fine was first elected to the House of Representatives, where he subsequently secured funding for the Indian River Lagoon cleanup. As the Florida Legislature’s sole Jewish Republican, Fine has been a vocal advocate for Israel, condemning antisemitism and championing resolutions backing the nation following the October 7 Hamas attack.

“President-Designate Albritton has been a mentor and a friend since he took this assertive entrepreneur under his wing eight years ago,” Fine said on X following the endorsement. “Ben is a man of profound moral character and conviction, and I am deeply humbled by his show of confidence in me.”

The endorsement comes after Albritton’s recent backing of Republican Rep. Keith Truenow in Florida Senate District 13.
