Space Florida and the UK Space Agency have established a $400,000 partnership to support joint aerospace research and commercialization projects, marking the first agreement under Florida’s International Aerospace Innovation Fund.
The organizations will each contribute $200,000 under a memorandum of understanding signed Tuesday at the Farnborough International Airshow in the United Kingdom. A formal application period is expected to open in fall 2026, with project selections anticipated in 2027.
Eligible projects must include at least one Florida-based aerospace company or organization and an international partner, such as a business, university, space agency or research institute. Proposals must also demonstrate commercial potential.
The partnership will focus on areas including space transportation, satellite systems, in-space research, exploration technologies, on-orbit servicing and manufacturing. Space Florida and the UK Space Agency will jointly review proposals through an expert panel and coordinate funding, intellectual property and commercialization arrangements.
The International Aerospace Innovation Fund was established in 2025 to connect Florida aerospace organizations with international partners. It can receive state, foreign government and private-sector funding.
The agreement builds on a broader trade and economic cooperation framework signed by Florida and the United Kingdom in 2023.
