Tampa General Hospital (TGH), one of Florida’s largest hospital facilities, announced this week that it has acquired Bravera Health network in a $290 million acquisition deal, pending regulatory approval.

The deal includes three medical facilities, Bravera Health Brooksville, Bravera Health Spring Hill, and Bravera Health Seven Rivers, and includes related businesses, such as physician clinic operations and outpatient services, which are presently subsidiaries of Community Health Systems, Inc.

“Tampa General Hospital is one of the nation’s leading academic health systems,” said John Couris, president and CEO of Florida Health Sciences Center, an affiliate of TGH. “With this acquisition, TGH is not only expanding its geographic footprint to meet the needs of our state’s growing population, but TGH is also increasing access for Floridians to the world-class rare and complex specialized care we offer.”

Currently, TGH’s footprint spans from Tampa Bay to Palm Beach and serves patients from 23 counties across Florida. The acquisition bolsters the health system’s base of operations in the Southwest and Central Florida regions as population numbers continue to climb.

Per the hospital, the transaction is anticipated to close later this year, and once the transaction is complete, TGH will work with leadership and the local physicians on the Bravera medical staff to develop plans for the future.

“Tampa General Hospital is a well-respected healthcare system with a demonstrated commitment to delivering quality care to the patients they serve across the communities they serve,” said Linda Stockton, Chief Executive Officer of Bravera Health Seven Rivers. “Our tradition of delivering medical services close to home will continue thanks to the dedication and skill of our medical staff and employees.”

Located in Citrus and Hernando counties, the trio of hospitals, outpatient clinics, and physician offices of Bravera Health provided care to more than 300,000 patients last year.
