Former President Donald Trump endorsed Mike Haridopolos for Florida’s 8th Congressional District.
Former President Donald Trump endorsed Mike Haridopolos on Monday for Florida’s 8th Congressional District, lending weight to the Republican’s campaign.
“Mike has a strong record of success and incredible support from his community,” Trump said. “In Congress, he will fight inflation, grow our economy, secure our border, support our military and veterans, champion American energy independence, and defend the Second Amendment. Mike Haridopolos has my complete and total endorsement. He will not let you down!”
Haridopolos, of Indian Harbour Beach, expressed his gratitude for Trump’s endorsement and emphasized the former president’s impact on national security and economic prosperity.
“I am deeply grateful to President Trump for his endorsement. President Trump made America safer, stronger, and more prosperous when he was in the White House. We need his leadership to secure the border, restore our economy, and keep our families safe. In Congress, I will strongly support President Trump’s agenda to Make America Great Again,” Haridopolos said.
Haridopolos’s campaign has garnered significant early support, including endorsements from prominent Republicans such as House Speaker Mike Johnson and Florida’s entire cabinet. His campaign has also raised $700,000 in three weeks.
“I’m incredibly proud of the support we’ve received,” he said during an interview with The Capitolist last month, noting the momentum his campaign has gained.
During the interview, Haridopolos was optimistic that he would earn the former president’s endorsement.
“I would love to serve with President Trump,” he said. “I’m optimistic that we can earn his endorsement, but it’s on his timetable, not mine.”
Haridopolos has also received pledges of support from Majority Leader Steve Scalise, Majority Whip Tom Emmer, and Republican Conference Chairman Elise Stefanik.
Haridopolos announced his candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives in Florida’s 8th Congressional District in April, aiming to succeed the retiring Rep. Bill Posey. The announcement came hours after Posey, a Republican who has represented the district since 2008, declared he would not seek reelection at the end of his term. Posey subsequently endorsed Haridopolos.
Congressional District 8, covering Brevard, Indian River, and part of Orange Counties, is a Republican stronghold, with Posey having secured the seat comfortably in past elections. Haridopolos’ entry into the race is expected to maintain the GOP’s strong presence in the area.
