U.S. Rep. Maxwell Frost endorsed Democratic gubernatorial candidate David Jolly and his running mate, Gwen Graham, on Tuesday, citing their shared opposition to the expansion of artificial intelligence data centers in Florida.
The Orlando congressman said Jolly’s judgment and willingness to listen to voters informed his decision to support the ticket. Frost specifically pointed to Jolly’s call for a statewide moratorium on new data center construction while policymakers address concerns surrounding water and electricity use, consumer costs, workforce disruption and the regulation of AI systems.
“David Jolly has the experience, the passion, and the judgment Florida needs in its next governor,” Congressman Frost said. “What stands out to me is that he listens. As he travels the state, he is hearing from people on the left and the right and turning those concerns into action, including his call for a moratorium on data centers. That is what leadership looks like.”
Frost also highlighted Jolly’s proposals to reduce housing and health care costs, strengthen public education and create what the campaign described as an economy that benefits Floridians across income levels.
The endorsement followed a volunteer event in Orlando last week attended by Frost, Jolly and Graham.
Jolly said Florida should pause new data center projects until the state develops policies addressing energy and water costs, potential job displacement and safeguards for children interacting with AI technology.
Frost, first elected to Congress in 2022, became the first member of Generation Z to serve in the U.S. House.
