The University of Florida (UF) fell one spot among the nation’s top public universities in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings but remained in the top 10 for the 10th consecutive year.
UF ranked eighth among public universities in the 2027 U.S. News & World Report “Best Colleges” rankings released Tuesday, down from seventh last year. The university also ranked 34th overall among national universities, compared with 30th in the previous rankings.
The latest placement extends a decade-long streak in which UF has ranked among U.S. News’ 10 highest-rated public universities. U.S. News evaluates colleges and universities using factors that include graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity and financial resources.
“For 10 consecutive years, the University of Florida has been recognized among the nation’s top public universities,” UF Board of Trustees Chair Mori Hosseini said.
The U.S. News ranking follows other recent national assessments of the university. TIME ranked UF fourth among public universities in its “America’s Best Colleges of 2026-2027” list in August, while Forbes ranked UF ninth among public universities in its “America’s Top Colleges” rankings published this month.
