The University of Florida (UF) ranked number four among public universities in TIME magazine’s inaugural “America’s Best Colleges of 2026-2027” rankings, the university announced Monday.
The ranking, developed by TIME in partnership with Statista, evaluates colleges based on student outcomes, learning environment and attractiveness to prospective students, with an emphasis on the value students receive from their education and their preparation for careers after graduation.
The University of Michigan ranked first among public universities, followed by the University of Virginia and the University of California, Berkeley.
UF Board of Trustees Chair Mori Hosseini said the ranking reflects the university’s academic environment, faculty and programs aimed at preparing students for success after graduation. Meanwhile, UF President Stuart Bell credited students, faculty and staff for contributing to the university’s standing.
The number four placement follows other recent rankings cited by UF. In July, the university was ranked first among the nation’s largest-enrollment public universities for artificial intelligence readiness, reflecting efforts to integrate AI into education, research and student experiences.
Earlier this year, SmartAsset also ranked UF as the nation’s top best-value public university based on affordability and student outcomes.
