  • The University of Florida placed first in U.S. News & World Report’s 2023 Best Online Bachelor’s Programs this week, marking the second consecutive year it has topped the ranking.
  • UF was also named the top university in America for veterans and active-duty service members to earn an online bachelor’s degree.
  • Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and the University of Central Florida also appeared in the top ten.
  • Embry-Riddle ranked second, while UCF attained the eighth spot.

The University of Florida (UF) topped U.S. News & World Report’s 2023 Best Online Bachelor’s Programs rankings for the second consecutive year.

UF’s online degree pathway earned high marks in the Faculty Credentials and Training and Services and Technologies scoring metrics. The university garnered further praise as the nation’s number one university for veterans and active-duty service members to earn an online bachelor’s degree.

“The recognition of the university’s online bachelor’s degree program is a tribute to the team that develops and delivers that program and the students who challenge the program to be the best,” said UF associate provost Andrew McCollough in a press statement. “Whether we are serving veterans, working parents, career professionals, or traditional students, this evaluation suggests we are moving in the right direction.

Delving into specificities of the ranking, UF’s bachelor’s in business administration also ranked as the top online business bachelor’s program in the nation, while its online bachelor’s degree program in psychology ranked fourth.

Two additional Florida colleges, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and the University of Central Florida (UCF), also appeared in the top ten of the rankings, placing second and eighth, respectively.

For Embry-Riddle, 2023 marks the seventh consecutive year it has earned either the first or second overall spot in the online degree rankings.

Like UF, U.S. News & World Report also ranked Embry-Riddle’s online bachelor’s programs in the upper echelon of programs for veterans at second.

2023 is the eighth consecutive year that Embry-Riddle has earned the first or second spot for their online programs for veterans

“As early adopters of online learning, our professors, many of them aerospace professionals, have the experience to engage and nurture students. We are especially proud to have helped veterans transition to well-paid jobs that contribute to our communities.”

Of the 17 UCF national online rankings that partially comprise its overall ranking, nine programs made the top ten, and four others were ranked in the top fifteen.

UCF tied for first in the country for its online psychology degree and ranked seventh for ‘best online bachelor’s program for veterans.’

Amid a worsening statewide nursing shortage, UCF also tied for tenth overall for its online graduate nursing program.

“Our recent rankings show we continue to be among the best in the nation for online programs — providing flexibility and increasing opportunity for students to succeed in critical, high-wage jobs that support our local and state economies,” said UCF president Alexander N. Cartwright.
