Monday Mailbag: Going Rogue Edition (No Spoilers)

by | Dec 19, 2016

Fresh off a viewing of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, I’m itching to connect with other fans, but don’t worry, I won’t spoil the movie for anyone here if you haven’t already seen it. It’s fantastic, and serves as a flavor enhancer for the original 1977 Star Wars movie…

So, yeah, no spoilers, but expect a few oblique references from Real* Readers sending Real* Emails.

“If you went to see Rogue One this weekend, you probably missed the complete thrashing I delivered to Adam Smith and Amy Hollyfield at the Tampa Bay Times.” –Peter “Darth Vader” Schorsch

Speaking of thrashings (or lack thereof), can you believe Adam Smith let me off the hook by not naming me Loser of the Week after I was forced to sack everyone at Visit Florida?” –Governor Rick Scott

“Speaking of Star Wars and Visit Florida, that agency sorta reminds me of the planet Alderaan.  And I’m the Death Star.”  –Richard “Grand Moff” Corcoran

Wait, I thought you were ‘MC Hunger Games’...?” –Pitbull

Speaking of Hunger Games, I’m starting to feel like the Senate is going to get starved out because of Corcoran’s budget rules.” –Joe Negron

“Don’t tell anyone, but I’ve got lawyers working on a lawsuit that will challenge Corcoran’s rules on the legal theory that he’s upsetting the balance of power.” –Jack Latvala

“Wait, you’re thinking of suing the House on a legal theory that Corcoran’s rules upset the balance of power, even though the balance of power is supposed to be between the different branches of government, not between two houses in the same branch?” –Florida Supreme Court Justices

“Sure, why not?” –Jack Latvala

“I like it.” –Newly Minted SCOFLA Justice Alan Lawson

“Speaking of longshots, can you believe crazy liberals are still trying to get me to change my electoral college vote?” –Joe Gruters

Speaking of longshots, can you believe Christian Ziegler is still out there trying to pick supporters off my endorsement list?” –RPOF Chairman Blaise Ingoglia

“I might be a longshot, but so was Donald Trump.” –Christian Ziegler
