The Associated Industries of Florida (AIF) on Monday endorsed James Uthmeier in the Florida attorney general race, adding to support that already includes backing from President Donald Trump and the Republican Attorney Generals Association.
In announcing the endorsement, AIF President and CEO Brewster Bevis pointed to Uthmeier’s record in public office and his approach to law enforcement, consumer protection and economic policy.
Bevis said the organization views strong enforcement of the rule of law as essential to Florida’s economic stability and growth, arguing that the attorney general plays a central role in maintaining a predictable legal environment for businesses and workers.
Bevis said Uthmeier has demonstrated a commitment to protecting consumers while also defending free enterprise, adding that Florida’s chief legal officer must both vigorously enforce state laws and promote a strong judicial system. AIF said it is confident Uthmeier would continue that approach if elected.
Uthmeier welcomed the endorsement, describing AIF as a respected voice for job creators and free-enterprise principles in Florida.
“I am honored to receive the endorsement of Associated Industries of Florida, a respected voice for job creators and the free-enterprise principles that have driven Florida’s economic success for over a century,” said Uthmeier. “AIF’s commitment to prosperity, good governance, and a thriving business climate reflects the values I am fighting for as Attorney General. Together, we will continue protecting Florida’s families and working to keep our state safe, strong, and free!”
Founded in 1920, AIF is a voluntary association representing a range of businesses across Florida. The organization regularly engages with the executive, legislative and judicial branches on issues related to economic policy, regulation and the state’s overall business climate.
