Former State Representative Bob Cortes continues to strengthen his bid to take back House District 30 this November.
This week, the Cortes’ campaign announced that Hunter Lamirande would serve as his campaign manager for the HD-30 campaign in 2020.
Lamirande is the Owner and Founder of Point Blank Political. Established in April of 2019, Point Blank Political is a full-service campaign consulting and advertising agency in Central Florida. The business works on campaigns at various levels, from presidential campaigns, PACs, congressional campaigns, gubernatorial campaigns, ballot issues, mayoral campaigns, political advocacy, city council campaigns and more.
“Hunter is the right person to lead this campaign and help me communicate to the voters across House District 30,” said Cortes. “I look forward to working with him to bring our message of more job growth and greater opportunity for all of our region’s residents.”
Lamirande is a resident of the Central Florida region. He obtained his B.S. in Marketing from the University of Southern Maine before starting his own business. He has spent his time working in political consulting for the past 6 years, working on campaigns from the municipal level to the White House.
Hunter also serves on the board of The Greater Orlando Young Republicans and helps lead the group and its members in a positive direction and reach like-minded young individuals.
“I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be joining Team Cortes as the Campaign Manager,” said Lamirande. Over these next few months, we’ll work consistently to reach out and listen to residents throughout District 30 and win back the seat.”
Today’s announcement comes a week after Cortes announced the backing of BusinessForce and the Central Florida Chapter Associated Builders and Contractors PAC.
Cortes was born in Brooklyn, New York before moving to Puerto Rico where he was raised. He moved Altamonte Springs before residing in Longwood where he founded two businesses: Cortes Towing Service and Cortrans Shuttle Service. Before being elected to the Florida House, Cortes served on the Longwood City Commission from 2009 to 2014.
He was first elected to the chamber in 2014 where he served as Vice Chairman of the Education Committee and the Transportation & Infrastructure Sub Committee. He also served as the Majority Deputy Whip from 2016 to 2018.
Following his departure from the House, Cortes remained active, serving on the Seminole State College board of trustees after being appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis last August. He also served on the governor’s transition team back in 2018.
The seat is currently held by Democratic Representative Joy Goff-Marcil.
