Bryan Griffin to return to Governor’s Office as Communications Director

Bryan Griffin is rejoining Gov. Ron DeSantis’ office as Communications Director after a stint in his presidential campaign, with Jason Mahon moving to Deputy Secretary for Economic Development at FloridaCommerce.


Bryan Griffin is set to return to the Governor’s Office as Communications Director for Gov. Ron DeSantis, beginning next Monday. Griffin, who previously served in the DeSantis administration as Deputy Press Secretary and later as Press Secretary, had left in May 2023 to join DeSantis’ presidential campaign.

First reported in Politco’s Playbook, the reshuffle also sees Jason Mahon, the governor’s outgoing Communications Director, transitioning to a new role as Deputy Secretary for Economic Development at FloridaCommerce.

Last May, Griffin announced his resignation from the governor’s office. In his resignation notice, Griffin touted legislative actions undertaken and passed by DeSantis, including education reform; the prohibition of environmental, social, and governance economic indicators; and disaster responses following the landfall of hurricanes Ian and Nicole.

Prior to his work in the Governor’s Office, Griffin held various roles with the London Center for Policy Research, the Maccabee Task Force, the Parliamentary Institute of Cambodia, and the Journal of International Affairs, where he served in various capacities spanning communications and media to field organization.
