Just a quick note to say thank you to all who have downloaded The Capitolist app. As of midnight on Thursday evening, we broke through 2,000 downloads. We are averaging 73 new users per day. In fact, after an expected drop-off in the first few days after launch, we’re still seeing a steady stream of downloads on both Apple iOS and Android smart phones.

And since we’re in the summer doldrums in Tallahassee, when many people are on vacation, traveling or avoiding Tallahassee for any number of reasons, I expect those numbers will tick steadily upward again this fall, as the contentious primary season winds down, school starts and people start thinking about committee weeks and the eventual start of the 2017 legislative session.

If there is a feature you’d like to see added, please drop me an email using our contact form. It will go right to my inbox. I’d love to hear from you, get news tips from you, or feature suggestions for the app. The goal is to make it as feature rich as possible so that it makes things easier to find the information you are looking for.

Here’s a quick rundown of our app adoption numbers:

Total downloads: 2,155

User locations: 65% of our users / readers are based in Tallahassee, meaning nearly 1,500 lobbyists, elected officials, consultants and staffers have installed The Capitolist.  So stay tuned. We know you are our primary audience and we’re working on more features to make the app more useful to you.

Device breakdown: 84% Apple iPhone / 16% Android users

Platform: About 70% of our traffic is mobile, and most of that is driven by social media, meaning most of our site traffic is not generated through the app, but through Facebook or Twitter.
