Erika Benfield touts accomplished campaign team in bid for CD 7

by | Jul 26, 2021

Erika Benfield, a Republican candidate for Florida’s 7th Congressional District, announced her campaign team on Monday.

Benfield, a Seminole County business owner who announced her candidacy earlier this month, touted her team in a press release, highlighting their accomplishements and veteran presence in her bid to flip CD 7 red in 2022.

“Today, I am pleased to announce our stellar new campaign team. They will be critical to my success moving forward, and I know I can count on them as we grow this strong conservative movement for Florida,” Benfield said.

Benfield’s team includes a host of notable names statewide and at the national level. Serving as general consultants for the campaign is Ascent Strategic. The D.C.-based firm has run campaigns at all levels – from president to Congress to city council – and specializes in several avenues, including strategic messaging, digital and earned media, campaign print and mailer outreach, and opposition research.

“Erika is a strong candidate with an amazing story. I, together with my firm, have cycles of experience in electing candidates just like Erika. She has a tremendous American Dream success story, one that is indicative of what makes this country so great. Erika is running to push back hard against the dangerous far-Left in Washington,” said Derek Dufresne, Co-Founder and Partner at Ascent Strategic. “Our team looks forward to providing the strategic guidance necessary as Erika contrasts her bold conservative solutions with the tired career politicians in Washington, DC.”

Also joining the team is political operative Kevin Cabrera, who will serve as Benfield’s senior advisor. No stranger to Florida’s political arena, Cabrera recently served as the Florida State Director for former President Donald Trump and the Republican National Committee. Cabrera was instrumental in delivering the battleground state for Trump and prod minority communities across the Sunshine State. Previously, he represented local governments and corporate clients before the legislative, executive, and local branches of Florida’s government.

“I’m thrilled to join Erika’s campaign as a Senior Advisor, she’s a dynamic candidate with an amazing story. I’m confident that the voters will agree and will elect Erika as their next Congresswoman who will help flip the House in 2022,” said Cabrera.

Rounding out Benfield’s team are nationally recognized Republican political consulting firm BrabenderCox, polling powerhouse WPAi, and Arena, who will handle email fundraising for the campaign..

“After just launching my campaign for Congress last week, I’m so proud of the team we are assembling to battle for America First principles in Central Florida,” Benfield added. “The talent of this team, combined with their tenacity and decades of collective experience, will prepare our campaign for success and for a win in 2022. As someone who is a product of the greatness of America, I put my all into everything. I have the confidence in this accomplished group that they will abide by this key tenet of my life, while keeping the focus on how we can best serve Floridians and fight for conservative ideals: getting government out of the way, putting God first, and protecting the values we hold dear as Americans. I feel confident with this accomplished organization to win this important race.”

CD 7, which is centered in the north-central portion of the state and encompasses Seminole County and parts of Orange County, including much of downtown and northern Orlando and the cities of Maitland and Winter Park, is set to be redrawn again ahead of the 2022 election as part of the reapportionment process.

CD 7 is currently represented by Democratic Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy, who was first elected in 2017.
